View a Template Record

To view template information you click the linked title on the Template main listing page or choose View from the ... menu in the template listing table. This page looks very similar to the Checklist page on purpose. The top area shows the template type, the description, the STIG type (SQL Server, Windows 10, Red Hat Linux, etc.) as well as the version and release number of that STIG template. It will also show the “Current Data Revision” which shows how many updates have been on your template. The revision starts at 1 for newly uploaded or created templates and goes up from there.

Template Main Data

The second area of the template area shows the system information this template is associated with (if any) and the date and time it was created. It also shows the user who created this template for tracking and auditing purposes. The updated information, if any, is also here. The right side shows the hostname, fully qualified domain name, and other data on the overall template.

You also see a list of any locked vulnerabilities in the details. As items are locked or unlocked and saved while editing templates (that are allowed to be edited) this list will update dynamically.

Template Vulnerabilities

The bottom section of the template page shows a table of all vulnerabilities. You can use the next and previous page buttons to cycle through the data. The search box allows quick filtering client side and you can also sort the columns by clicking on the column headers. If you have proper rights the template vulnerability rows have a ... menu button to allow editing the vulnerability information.

Editing Template

When you edit templates you can update the main details such as the hostname, fully qualified domain name, tech area, asset type, and role. This information is saved with the template data and viewable on the template page.

Note: you can only edit Organization or System Package template data, not DISA templates. There are permission restrictions on editing templates. For Custom Templates, if you are an Administrator or Template Administgrator you can edit template data, fields (rule title, check content, etc.), and vulnerability data.

Downloading a Template

You can download a template one at a time from this page. Choose the download button at the top and a .CKL file is downloaded. The naming of the file should include the type of template so it is quickly understood as to the data it contains.

Exporting a Template

You can also export a template to MS Excel (*.XLSX) one at a time from this page. Choose the export button at the top and a .XLSX file is downloaded. The naming of the file should include the type of template so it is quickly understood as to the data it contains. The rows in the spreadsheet are color coded according to the status and severity of the vulnerability item, similar to the score colors for the same status and severity.
