Team Subpackage Items List

The Team Subpackage Items page lists any current Team Subpackages for this system package as well as all items (devices and checklists) within the subpackage. As explained on the main help landing page, a Team Subpackage is a way to group checklists and/or devices into smaller sets so groups of people (teams) can manage and view their own data.

The main page lists each team name, key as well as the item type (Checklist or Device) and its checklist full name or hostname.

Users assigned to that Team Subpackage have permissions into that Team Subpackage (read-only, manage checklists, manage patch data, edit POAM, etc.) and can only see and edit that data, without seeing the larger system package data information, overall POAM, cyber readiness or compliance information.

Add a new Team Subpackage

To add a new Team Subpackage, as a System Owner click the Add Team Subpackage button. Enter a title, a team key and a description for the Team Subpackage. The team key is a unique key for this team within the system package. It must be only letters (a to z lowercase), numbers (0 to 9) or the - dash as a special character.

The system key and the team key combine to form a unique pairing for user permissions in OpenRMF® Professional.

Adding Checklists Devices to a Team Subpackage

Before your users in a Team Subpackage can see a checklist, it has to be added to your main system package AND then added to the allowed checklists for that Team Subpackage. Or if they have the “Checklist Creator” permission within the Team Subpackage, they can upload a new scan or CKL file and have it automatically be added for all to see (as long as that checklist type and hostname is not already in the system package overall).

To add an existing checklist to a Team Subpackage, go to the system package checklist listing and choose at least one checklist by clicking its checkbox to the left of its row. The Bulk menu shows and you can choose the “Add to Team Subpackage” option and click Apply. Verify you wish to add the checklist(s) and then choose the Team Subpackage. Once you click the Add button they are added and available to anyone with at least “reader” capability for that Team Subpackage.

Note that adding a checklist to a Team Subpackage does NOT remove it from any other Team Subpackage. To do that you can either remove or move from the existing Team Subpackage under the Team Subpackage management pages that list all checklists and devices for all Team Subpackages.

You also can have a System Package preference to limit a checklist or device to at most 1 Team Subpackage as well.

Adding Devices to a Team Subpackage

To add an existing device to a Team Subpackage, go to the system package hardware listing and choose at least one device by clicking its checkbox to the left of its row. The Bulk menu shows and you can choose the “Add to Team Subpackage” option and click Apply. Verify you wish to add the device(s) and then choose the Team Subpackage. Once you click the Add button they are added and available to anyone with at least “reader” capability for that Team Subpackage.

Alternatively, if a user has the “Patch Administrator” permission within the Team Subpackage, they can upload a new scan file and have the devices automatically be added for all to see (if the device hostname is not already used elsewhere in the system package overall).

Adding a device allows a Team Subpackage user to at least view the device patch score, hardware listing, software listing, as well as the ports, protocols, and services for that device. It also allows viewing history of any updates to those same pieces of information.

Note that adding a device/hardware asset to a Team Subpackage does NOT remove it from any other Team Subpackage. To do that you can either remove or move from the existing Team Subpackage under the Team Subpackage management pages that list all checklists and devices for all Team Subpackages.

Moving and Removing Items in a Team Subpackage

To move a checklist or device from the Team Subpackage, as a System Owner of the system package you can click the ... menu button on each row of the Team Subpackage full listing of items and choose the Move option. A list of available Team Subpackags will pop up to allow moving between them for any item type listed.

To remove an item from the Team Subpackage, as a System Owner you can click the same ... menu and choose the Delete option. Confirm by clicking OK and the item is removed from that Team Subpackage.

Deletions only remove from the Team Subpackage, not the larger system package. They are still available there.
